Our Circle Word: "went" Focus on Blends (ST, FL, BL)
Writing:
Students learned the importance of vowels in their words. They practiced writing sentences and making sure their words had vowels (even if they weren't correct).
They also reviewed work in their writing folders and edited some pieces so they could read what they wrote and share it with their partners. They did a fantastic job with this and were very proud.
Reading:
The kiddos continue to grow in their reading. We focussed on some lessons this week about blends, and to make sure when they are reading words, they stretch the sounds to the very end of the word.
I used an example of a sign Fresh Donuts! and told them I mistakenly read it as
Free Donuts! because I didn't finish stretching the sounds out in the word.
Read Alouds:
We celebrated Dr. Seuss' Birthday with some stories; Cat in the Hat, the Foot Book, and some P.D. Eastman Books; Go, Dog, Go! Big Dog, Little Dog.
We also read about water and weather.
Mrs. Coker read a story called Wilma Jean the Worry Machine that talked about the size of a problem.
Math Stations:

One Fish, Two Fish Addition
Dr. Seuss 100 Hidden Chart
Equations using numbered and dot-dice
One More, One Less card game

Animal Card addition
Friday:
We had our Book Buddies in to read some more Dr. Seuss books and other books from our classroom library.
Science: we learned about the parts of an incubator and how it works. We are preparing for our 12 chick eggs that will arrive Monday! The kids are super excited.
Have a nice weekend all.
