Your kiddos had another awesome week of learning, sharing and growing!
It was nice to see some parents at our Learning Labs open house as well.. Thank you.
Alphafriends:
We studied letters I and K and our new circle word was "and."
Writing Workshop:
We continued to practice letter sounds with our word work.
Students also added to their Show and Tell writing. They practiced stretching letter sounds, labeled their pictures and added sentences to their drawings.
Reading Workshop:
We are Super Readers! Students learned about the special pointer powers they have when reading. We emphasized the importance of using our fingers (and special classroom pointers) to tap each word as we read. Throughout the week they learned to re-read and share their reading with a partner, all while pointing to text.
Book Bags: students used books that were placed in their book bags by me (and recommended by Mrs. Quinn). These will be used daily and changed accordingly.
Science:
We learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin this week using a graph and reading a story.
Math Stations:
Turkey Teens- a booklet to practice 10 frames and counting on, how to write teen numbers and draw objects.
Highlight Teens- a number grid where students use a highlighter (which they loved!) to find teen numbers and color in the square.
Build a City- a partner game- practiced building towers with unifex cubes. The winner is determined by using a spinner. If it lands on less, the winner who has fewer cubes wins, and vice-versa.
Teen Bingo- partner game to practice locating teen numbers.
IPAD- played a new game called Park Math and they practiced with less and more.
